Even today it can be an advantage to save a USB port on some systems. You can lay this trackball on a desk and roll the ball with your fingers, or you can hold it in your hand and roll the ball with your thumb. This TrackMan was reasonably comfortable to use, but the fixed wrist rest was not really appreciated by everyone. I think every one of these trackballs had some interesting or unique new feature – that was generally the reason that I bought them. I believe that this was the first to use Logitech’s Marble optical sensing technology.

One of its few flaws was that click-and-drag pretty much required two hands. Logitech TrackMan Voyager – In some ways this was the next generation of the Thumbelina, because you could easily hold it in your hand and roll the ball with your thumb. There is one significant disadvantage of this button behavior, though. I’ve been waiting a long time for a new trackball from Logitech.
The Microsoft Trackball Explorer might have been an option, but it seems loitech be impossible to get nowadays.
Overall it is a pretty nice trackball, and I still use it from time to time when I need to grab one quickly for something, such as when the Logitech Unifying receiver isn’t recognized properly.

Trackman Marble FX drivers
You will need to either revert to the Windows XP operating system or search any other replacement product. The ball on top then ttrackman as a trackball, and there is a little cover that you can slide closed over the mouse optical sensor on the bottom. That third button made all the difference in the world to the usability of the Thumbelina, because trying to click-and-drag in any other way, trwckman just the two basic buttons, was nearly impossible. You scavenged a common USB trackman for parts.

You tarckman wonder about the 8 mouse buttons, as the device only has four physical buttons. I believe that the original Thumbelina also came with a bit of stick-on velcro that you were supposed to use to attach it to your laptop. Hands-on with the Pi-Desktop kit.
